Del Norte County has endless options for sleeping under the stars. Some rustic sites provide only an outhouse, some have showers and water, there are small cabins just off the highway, RV camping, or hike to a private forest or
Coastal destination.
These campgrounds are in the cool of the coastal area, average summer temp. within about 10 minutes of the Pacific Ocean, about 65 degrees. Drive about 10 minutes to warmer climate and the Hiouchi, Gasquet area and the beautiful swimable Smith River!

Access to the Smith River and its tributaries are endless, pull over in any turn-out and it's probably a "spot". (watch out for posion oak along the trails though)
